Inclusion
With increased migration and accessibility, educational institutions are becoming more and more diverse. However, diversity also brings with it the fear of underrepresentation and certain groups being marginalised. To cater to this concern, inclusivity and openness is advocated by LUMS. In simple terms, inclusion means the action or state of being included within a group or a structure.
LUMS has a very diverse community of students and faculty members coming from different provinces and a variety of religious, ethnic and social backgrounds in Pakistan. This diversity is further enhanced by a mix of foreign students who come to LUMS on exchange programmes. LUMS aims to provide a safe abode to all members of the community by promoting values based on equality, diversity and inclusion. The Office of Accessibility and Inclusion (OAI) works to initiate, develop and implement policies that address concerns related to underrepresentation or marginalisation of any group at LUMS, thereby creating a healthy campus environment for all.
