Open Mic Night

The OAI kicked off its series of student engagement events with its pilot event, an Open Mic Night on Friday, 26 of November 2021. The concept of the open mic was ‘Claim Your Space’ and aimed at providing the student body with a platform to express using what this statement means to them using whichever medium they prefer - be it poetry, stand-up or speech. The event was attended by graduate and undergraduate students alike and numerous budding poets/singers showcased their talent. The event was low-key, with an audience of about 30 people, which gave everyone a chance to engage with one another and the OAI about current issues they experience relating to inclusion and how events of such nature could help them network and voice their concerns.
